Filmography

It’s my job! Why?

As a photographer, I have learned to thread pearls.

Film is nothing other than a threading together of images.

The medium is purely an illusion for the human eye. Provided the conductor’s baton is set to 24 frames per second (FPS).

Were our sensory perception, delivered by the eye,
programmed to interact differently with the brain,

perhaps 50 or 100 or maybe even more frames would be needed
for us to set the perceived whole in perfect (forward) motion
from the single image, the photograph.

And now we’re in the midst of a film,
as if inspired, taking part in a story.

24 frames per second are all we need,

which brings the following to mind:

Just one frame per hour and the day is gone!
Two frames a month, and a year has passed!
This symbolic number, twenty-four (24),

represents Heavenly Glory in the Bible.

The ‘perfect’ Greek alphabet from Alpha to Omega.

It is not formal,
the number is the formula…of illusions.

The fact that it is like this and what is actually static is put into motion, illustrates that the way we perceive pictures is largely dictated by our heart and our sensibility of being.

Film is motion, film is whatever runs absolutely parallel to reality and allows us to dream.

But whoever abuses this opportunity to create dreams is guilty.

Guilty before whom?

If you’re unsure, look to yourself.

Responsibility must be learned like the threading of pearls

or the filmmaker’s craft …

… and that

holds true

not just

for when

film as film

was still haptic!
